Cemetery Walk/Lantern Tour Fundraiser

The historical society where I serve on the Board of Directors has had the most success in fundraising by putting on an annual “cemetery walk” where we offer a “soup ‘n salad ‘n bread supper”, a tour of the local cemetery with (normally) 6 short dramatic (“living-history” type) “vignettes” based upon events in the lives of our more historically significant “residents” and then an after-tour dessert ‘n coffee venue held in an historic cottage next door to the the cemetery that we also administrate. “The Barbara Bull Memorial Cemetery Walk” has been a sell-out event for every one of our 12 years of existence and the Walk has become the #1 fundraising source for the Western Sonoma County Historical Society (based in Sebastopol, Sonoma County, Northern California)   Submitted by Jean F.

We have included a number of do-it-yourself fundraising ideas in this section that offer a break from traditional product sales.  They were developed by groups just like yours in an attempt have a little fun with their fundraiser. Some of them are tried and true while others show a lot of creativity … and even wackiness in some cases.  All of them are obviously not appropriate for every group, but sometimes, with only a little modification, your might find some fund raising ideas that are perfect for your group. If you have an idea for a do-it-yourself fund raiser you are willing to share with others, please send it to us via email. Include anything and everything you would want to know if you were hearing the idea for the first time.
