AIDS/HIV Fundraising Ideas

Charitable groups that focus on AIDS/HIV have common goals: Awareness, Prevention and Finding a Cure. They also share a common problem: Fundraising. There are as many AIDS/HIV Fundraisers are there are AIDS/HIV organizations and not all of them have big named celebrities or the means to throw multi-million dollar elaborate events.

One of the biggest decisions faced is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In Calgary, they have been throwing the crazy and fun-loving, highly media covered Drag-Queen Coronation Ball fundraiser for 37 years for charitable groups. In California,  the Aids LifeCycle ride is a 545 mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS programs. Fundraisers by other AIDS groups include t-shirt sales, walkathons, dinners, head shaving and arts fairs.

Do-It-Yourself AIDS/HIV Fundraiser

You can also choose from a wide variety of AIDS/HIV support group DIY fundraising ideas to supplement your programs. How about a don't come event, toilet seat toss, goblin insurance, pass the can, womanless beauty pageant, or thons of every type?  Perhaps you can adapt one of these creative DIY fundraiser events to suit your needs:

Karaoke Night – How about a monthly fundraising event that both the kids and adults can really get into? Host Karaoke Nights. Charge Admission (say $5 per person) and provide snacks for the evening. Hold a competition or just let it be a free for all.  Read more…

Where has Dolly Been? - For this fundraising event you need a new doll. Get one in a box as it seems to draw in the buyers. Then you need a load of holiday brochures and a plastic wallet so that you can make a book up. Use about 100 pictures cut out of the holiday brochures.  Read more…

Hearts Marathon - For this fundraising idea, your members play the card game "hearts" for 24 consecutive hours. (You could probably use any card game you wanted—as long as it was the same card game for 24 hours.) You solicit pledges per point accrued for each player.  Read more…
