Canadian Fundraising Ideas

Canada has many, many non-profit charities, youth groups and other organizations with one thing in common… they all throw fundraisers. With so many organizations competing for fundraising dollars, what can you do to make your event stand out from the rest?

One of the most important decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. Holland College’s Culinary Institute of Canada, together with the Canadian Cancer Society,  has found a sweet way to fight back against cancer with a campaign called Desserts and Daffodils fundraiser. The Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) held a fundraiser which also served to enlighten supporters about the daily struggles of the blind. Dining in the Dark is a fundraising dinner held annually at one or more local restaurants, where the diners are blindfolded throughout the entire meal and must rely on the staff, who are trained in advance by CNIB volunteers. Proceeds benefit the CNIB. Fundraisers by other Canadian groups include fairs, auctions, craft sales, game nights, triathlons, pie drives, thons, and coin drives.

You can also choose from a wide variety of Canadian DIY fundraising ideas to supplement your program. How about an adult spelling bee, best legs, cowpie bingo, dog walk, reverse raffle, or thons of every type? Perhaps one of these successful and creative ideas can be adapted for your Canadian fundraiser.
