Choir / Choral Fundraising Ideas

Whether it’s your local church choir, high school choral, glee club or community chorus, all choir groups eventually need fundraising events for robes, travel expenses, song rights, costumes or to help out a member in need or a local charity. Fundraisers can be challenging, but choir and choral groups have a lot of talent at their disposal.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In the UK, singers from Batley were joined by community choirs from across West Yorkshire for a fundraising extravaganza. Singing for Fun hosted a special concert in aid of Kirkwood Hospice alongside groups from Wakefield, Leeds and beyond. Elsewhere in Illinois, a La Salle-Peru Township High School choir recorded an album for the first time in 36 years as a fundraiser.  Fundraisers by other choirs and choral groups include, photo contests, benefit sings, bake sales, product sales, bowling tournaments, karaoke nights, and dinners.

Flash Mob – A Flash mob fundraiser delighted a Territory Days crowd. For 36 years, Territory Days has provided thousands of visitors with a chance to enjoy live music, sink their teeth into turkey legs and graze the selections of hundreds of vendors. But a group of about 50 people added something fresh to the historical three-day festival in Old Colorado City. Read more…

Movie Night – Many organizations rent a movie (pick one with an appropriate theme for your group) and hold movie night fundraising events. This works especially well if you have a large room and projection/large screen TV. Make money by charging a single price for the movie and refreshments; provide the movie free but sell refreshments; or charge nothing and just ask for donations. Read more…
