Diabetes Fundraising Ideas

More than 1.9 million people receive a diagnosis of diabetes every year, and that number is growing. Fundraisers for Diabetes Awareness and Support have to keep pace, but fundraisers benefiting diabetes tend to be limited in that they can’t exactly throw a cookie sale or a cake walk or doughnut eating contest without contributing to the very problem they are trying to eradicate.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. Swim for Diabetes, an annual fundraiser to benefit the diabetes partnership of Cleveland, OH, raised more than $4,000.  The Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland, hosted the 28th annual Swim for Diabetes fundraiser at many other area fitness centers and swimming pools as well. In Jacksonville, FL more than 7,000 walkers representing families, schools and corporations participated in the annual North Florida Walk to Cure Diabetes fundraiser. Fundraisers by other diabetes awareness and support groups include product sales, auctions, tree lightings, car shows, restaurant nights, and skydiving.
