Home School Fundraising Ideas

Approximately one million children are home schooled in the U.S. and that number grows every year. Just like their public school and private school counterparts, there inevitably comes a time when home schoolers need to throw a fundraising event to pay for supplies, field trips, specially prepared course work or just for a worthy cause to help teach students the rewards of giving back to one’s community. Fundraising can be challenging, especially when you don’t have a large student body to call upon for help.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. One home school family held a garage sale fundraiser in Milwaukee, WI to cover athletic expenses in conjunction with a local high school.  In Anderson, SC, a group of homeschoolers pooled their resources and sold pastries, and the Moms conducted cooking classes. Several homeschoolers have conducted a Facebook fundraiser, selling various products. Fundraisers by other Home Schools include read-a-thons, product sales, raffles, car washes, dinners, carnivals, and auctions.
