Moose Fundraising Ideas

The Loyal Order of Moose is a fraternal and service organization in all 50 states and four Canadian provinces, plus Great Britain and Bermuda. The Moose supports the operation of Mooseheart Child City & School, a community for children and teens in need; and Moosehaven , a retirement community for its members near Jacksonville, FL. They are also active in a lot of local charities and youth sporting leagues in their communities. As you can imagine, all that takes a whole lot of fundraising, and fundraising can be challenging.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In Appomattox, VA, professional wrestling returned to the Appomattox Moose Lodge as part of a benefit fundraiser for Relay for Life. In London, England, It was a Night to Remember at Moose Lodge 1300, with heroes of country music to life at a fundraiser for the Men of the Moose. Fundraisers by other Moose Lodges include polar bear plunges, product sales, dinners, thons, raffles, game nights, boxing matches, trivia nights, movie nights, and motorcycle rides.

Dinner Auction – Our local Auxiliary hosts a Dinner Auction Fundraiser 2 or 3 times a year. We ask for volunteers to make a single dinner. We supply the take out containers to package them into. (i.e. Pork Chops, Mashed Potatoes, a vegetable and roll) We pick a night to hold the auction. Everyone brings their dinners on that particular night. We arrange all dinners on a table so the people can see what they are bidding on. Read more…

Raffle Table – Our variation on a fundraising raffle is to have a table of donated items. Our members donate new items they have received as gifts but don’t want, things they have made with their special talents, items donated from local businesses, and certificates for free admission to future lodge events or services (such as baby sitting or house-cleaning). The items are on display during our charity fundraising dinner. Read more…

Tacky Yard – This fundraiser works! Get a few people to dress up in ragged clothes. Find an old pickup truck and fill the back with yard junk. Some pink flamingoes, a toilet, car parts (preferably rusty but don’t cut yourself!), whatever you might find in a cluttered messy lawn. Read more…
