Rotary Fundraising Ideas

In more than 34,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide, you’ll find members volunteering and fundraising in communities at home and abroad to support education and job training, provide clean water, combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, and eradicate polio. Fundraising is challenging, but also very rewarding.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In South Carolina, The Mullins Rotary Club organized a Cow Patty Bingo fundraiser, where supporters signed up for numbers matching squares on the field and whichever square Bessie or Beulah dropped a “patty” signaled a winner. In Texas, the Kingwood Rotary Club annually drapes the community in red, white and blue every Memorial Day through their flag sale fundraiser. Fundraisers by other Rotary Clubs include car raffles, movie nights, million dollar dinners, wine tasting, product sales, Jail & Bail, used book sales, garage sales, golf tournaments, bake sales, benefit dinners, cookbook sales and thons of every type.

Cow Pie Bingo – Experience the “sweet smell of success” while hosting a cow pie fundraising event during a country fair, rodeo or other event. A cow is turned loose on a fenced-in area which has been marked off in 500 three-foot, numbered squares. The cow determines the winner by making the first “deposit” on one of the squares. Read more…

Super Bowl Sub Sale – The Greenfield, Ohio, Mothers’ Club, each year sponsors a Super Bowl Sub Sale fundraising event. On Super Bowl Sunday, submarine sandwiches (3 kinds of sliced meat, 3 kinds of cheese, shredded lettuce, peppers, onions, and dressing on a hoagie bun) are mass-produced in an assembly line fashion. Read more…

Frog Jumping Contest – In Plainfield, Connecticut, they didn’t enter the competition with the pageantry that preceded London’s Olympic games, but Hopper and Hoppy found an enthusiastic audience in Plainfield’s 13th annual frog jumping contest fundraiser. Organizers said more than 70 people took part in the fundraiser to benefit the First Congregational Church of Plainfield. Read more…
