Sophomore Class Fundraising Ideas

By sophomore year, most students have found their stride… no longer the new kids on the block, they can focus on the future. Many graduating classes start a “class fund” and hold a fundraiser every year, the fund goes to pay for thing like Prom, class gift, yearbooks, or any number of other things. Sometimes a classmate is injured or sick and his/her classmates hold a fundraising event to help offset expenses. There are a thousand reasons for sophomores to want to have a fundraiser.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In Palmyra, N.Y., the Palmyra-Macedon High School sophomore class hosted their annual fundraiser with a community yard sale in the high school gym. The New Providence High School in New Jersey held a car wash fundraiser.  Fundraisers by other Sophomore classes include topless car washes, restaurant nights, spinning classes, raffles, car washes, yoga classes, concerts, thons, bake sales, talent shows, trivia nights, garage sales, and donation jars.

Kidnap the Teacher – The Student Council of Ada (Oklahoma) High School organizes a campaign to kidnap a teacher each spring as a fundraiser. Members collect money from every teacher’s classes every period for a week, keeping track of the total collected for each class. Read more…

Burger/Pizza Night – The Burger King in our area has “fundraising benefits” to support area groups like school groups, Girl Scouts, M.O.P.S., etc. All you do is arrange with the Burger King the date and time (for example Friday the 5th from 3-5pm) and they donate a percent of the sales during that time! Read more…
