Soroptimist Fundraising Ideas

Soroptimist is an international organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world. The name, Soroptimist, means “best for women.” Soroptimists hold fundraising events through LiveYourDream.org, which raises funds for education grants, to raise awareness about sex-slavery and anti-prostitution programs and to champion any cause that is affecting women and girls in the world today. Fundraising can be challenging, but is also very rewarding.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In Philadelphia, PA, the Buy a Brick, Build a Dream campaign fundraiser invited the public to purchase a virtual brick in honor of a special woman or girl by posting a picture with a unique message on a virtual wall. In San Diego, CA, Soroptimists held a High Tea and Fashion event as a fundraiser for local womens’ shelters. Fundraisers by other Soroptimists include dances, book drives, poetry contests, casino nights, dinners, raffles, and product sales.
