Do-It-Yourself Fundraiser Of The Month
CASAA
members held a Lazy-Boy Day for a fun
activity and a way to raise some money. They
set up a Lazy Boy chair in the cafeteria at lunch on Monday through
Thursday, and sold tickets for 25 cents each. On Thursday, just before
the end of classes, they drew the winner's
name. That person got to spend all of their classes on Friday from the
comfort of the Lazy Boy chair. Student council members brought the
chair to the winner's first period class and at the end of first
period, student council members moved it to their next period class.
It was a great way to raise a little money and have some fun at the
same time. At some schools the winner gets to keep the chair at the end of the day, but
most just store it away for next
years drawing. |

Fun Pasta Fundraising:
"Being the Fundraising Director for the Glen Allen Ravens is like
having a full time job. Choosing the right product and making sure it
could be profitable was very important to me. With over 400 football
players and cheerleaders, I had to think of something that was unique,
fun, and of course, profitable. My organization sold close to $20,000.
Let me save you hours of searching on the internet for the right
fundraiser for your organization. My experience with The Pasta Shoppe
was A #1!" Dondi W., Glen Allen, VA |

Interesting or Fun Facts
Smokey Bear is a mascot of the United States Forest Service
created in 1944 to educate the public on the dangers of forest fires.
Initially the Forest Service used Bambi, from the Walt Disney film, on
its posters, but Bambi was only loaned to them by Disney for one year,
so a new animal mascot had to be created. The bear's first poster was
prepared on August 9, 1944. In 1952, after Smokey Bear became popular
enough to attract commercial interest, The Smokey Bear Act, an Act of
Congress was passed to take Smokey out of the public domain and place
him under the control of the Secretary of Agriculture. The Act
provided for the use of Smokey's royalties for continued education on
forest fire prevention. It is the longest running public-service
campaign in U.S. history. At the height of his popularity, Smokey
received so much fan mail that he was assigned his own ZIP Code,
20252.
