Do-It-Yourself
Fundraiser Of The Month
Paw
Painting: This is especially
appropriate for animal welfare groups but could be used by many
other animal related organizations. Animals create
professionally styled paintings on canvas that are matted and
framed. These paintings are then given names reminiscent of
great works of art and described as one would describe a work
created by a master such as Monet, Rembrandt or PAW-casso. A bio
of the animal artist and a photo of the animal can be provided
in a smaller frame that will accompany the artwork when sold
during an auction or individually as part of an art show.
Animals can also paint original works of art on t-shirts,
aprons, sweatshirts, tote bags and other items.

Interesting or Fun Facts
In 1890, Alexandre F.
Godefroy, a French hairdresser, invented the first hair dryer
which was composed of a bonnet attached to a flexible hose that
extended to a gas stove. After the turn of the century, however, women
began drying their hair by connecting a hose to the exhaust of their
vacuum cleaners. In early models, the front of a vacuum cleaner sucked
air in, the back blew air out, and the hose could be attached to
either end. But in 1920, the hair dryer went public. Although this
device was extremely large and overheated easily, it was better than a
vacuum! The hand held hair dryer was not invented until 1951. The
device consisted of a hand-held dryer connected to a pink plastic
bonnet which fitted over the woman's head.
