Do-It-Yourself
Fundraiser Of The Month
Y.C.J.C.Y.1.D.:
The Rahway Elk's Lodge # 1075, Rahway, New Jersey, has four
televisions in their grillroom. Above each of them they put up
signs like Y.C.J.C.Y.1.D. People started to ask what does that
mean? They tell them for $1.00 they can find out. After they
pay the dollar they are given a card and are told they cannot
tell anyone else. On the card it say's, "Your Curiosity Just
Cost You One Dollar". All the money goes into their Handicapped
Children's Fund. |

The
Samantha Project provides dolls free of charge to
hospitals to give to children who are undergoing treatment for
cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The dolls are
unique in that they have no hair. Children can identify
completely with this new friend, as many of them also lose their
own hair. Each doll is handmade and comes with its own
personalized name and information card. This card assures
children there is Someone who loves them very, very much … the
words "Jesus Loves you" are embroidered across the heart of each
doll. A gift of $ 20.00 covers the cost of the materials and
clothing to make one doll. |

Finalli Concepts:
A new approach to fundraising is to "give instead of ask". A
musical CD that is freely given to a potential donor with no
obligation to the receiver. Let our CD/booklet explain your
fundraising objectives to prospective donors. You no longer need
to depend on volunteers to talk about your cause. They simply
give away a gift of music and the booklet does the asking for
you. You can direct donors to your website and/or a convenient
tear out donation form can be mailed to you with a check or
money order supporting your cause. |

Interesting or Fun Facts
Walter H. Deubner,
a grocer from Minnesota, can take credit
for the invention of the shopping bag. When he saw people were
constrained from buying groceries in large quantities because of their
inability to carry in bulk, he came up with the idea of a
prefabricated paper bag with a cord running through it. Called the
deubener shopping bag, he sold over a million bags in a single year.
That was the beginning of the shopping bag and ever since then paper
bags have always been popular. |
