Do-It-Yourself
Fundraiser Of The Month
Pajama Day: Participants pay $.50
to $1.00 on a designated day and get
to wear their pajamas to school. It's very easy. All you need
is someone to go the classrooms and collect the money.
Even the teachers
can participate! Expect a
variety of PJ's, stuffed animals, blankies and favorite pillows
everywhere. Consider having a contest
for the ugliest, weirdest, etc. pajamas. Surprisingly, pajama
days have been held at all levels, kindergarten through high
school. |

Burger King and McDonald's restaurants often
allow non-profit groups to raise funds by sponsoring a specific
day and time where a percentage of all sales is donated to the
organization. Obviously, you want to promote the event and get
as many customers as possible during that time. Minimal
preparation, no door-to-door sales, and all proceeds are pure
profit. Percentages offered may vary. Contact a restaurant near
you for details. |

Interesting or Fun Facts
Halloween's
roots can be traced back to Celtic culture in Ireland. According to
their "Druid" religion, November 1st was New Years' on their calendar.
The celebration would begin on October 31st ,and last into the
following day. The spirits of all who died in the prior year, would
rise up and roam the earth on this night. This is an evil night when
spirits roamed the streets and villages. Lord Samhain, the lord of
Darkness, would arrive in search of the spirits to take them to the
underworld. Halloween as it is currently
celebrated with costumes, trick or treat, and superstitions, takes
from this Druid Holiday. Trivia:
Halloween is the holiday when the most candy is sold; it is
second only to Christmas in total product sales. |
