Do-It-Yourself
Fundraiser Of The Month
Singing Christmas Card: Similar
to a singing telegram, this fund raiser is easy because everyone
can sing Christmas carols. Form singing teams of three or more,
and assign each team a particular night to deliver singing
cards. For each team, designate a captain who'll be the
spokesperson when the team arrives to sing for customers. Have
them dress in unique costumes and take along Christmas cookies
to hand out. Advertise your service to your community and your
members. |

Officer Kris Kringle, Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida,
provides underprivileged children who are either very ill,
homeless, or victims of violent crimes, with a Christmas that
they might otherwise not enjoy. The children make a small wish
list indicating what they would like for Christmas. Officer Kris
Kringle, Inc. makes one of these wishes come true. The toys are
delivered to the children by uniformed police officers. In
addition to making a Christmas wish come true, this program also
encourages a positive attitude between the community and law
enforcement officers. It shows the children that police officers
do care. |

Interesting or Fun Facts
Yahtzee
was invented by a wealthy Canadian couple to play aboard their yacht.
Whenever friends were invited aboard, they were taught how to play the
"Yacht" game. Their friends enjoyed the game so much that they all
wanted copies of their own. Now there's a life crisis! How to supply
your yachting friends with this game? In 1956, the couple approached
Mr. Edwin S. Lowe, the made who made a fortune selling Bingo games in
the 1920's. They asked him to make up a few samples of the game for
gifts. Lowe liked the game so much that he offered to buy the rights.
They agreed to sell the rights for the price of the first 1,000 games
produced so they could fulfill their friends requests. Well, not every
decision is the smart one. Today, more than 50 million Yahtzee games
are sold annually. [Source:
