Chicken Plunge Fundraiser
Chicken Plungers of all ages entered the ocean at 1:00pm on September 9th in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. If you were too chicken to enter the ocean in the winter, this was the plunge for you. Pools were available for those older and younger chickens who can’t plunge in the sea. One toe touching water counted. It was just a silly way of saying, ‘Hey, I don’t want to make that February plunge, but I can make the September one because the water’s warm. The Chicken Plunge participants were encouraged to raise sponsorship money to contribute to the clubhouse collection.
Residents and visitors alike were invited to ignore their cold water fears and jump into the Atlantic in the name of charity. In addition to the main event, the Village Improvement Association (VIA), hosted a series of kid-focused entertainment and games, kite flying, and food stands. The purpose of the event was to raise money for the organization’s clubhouse improvements, which will allow the VIA to host larger events that benefit the town and other groups in the region, as well as for the general fund used by the Rehoboth Beach Patrol.
