Kissing Contest Fundraiser

Although this event was to set a new world record, the possibilities for a fundraising event are obvious!  Nineteen-year-old Louisa Almedovar and her 22-year-old boyfriend Rich Langley, both of Vineland, New Jersey, USA, kissed non-stop for a record 30 hours, 59 minutes and 27 seconds on December 5, 2001, at the television studios of Ricki Lake, New York City, USA. The puckered-up pair locked lips for a Valentine’s Day special, and didn’t separate once to sit down, eat, or even visit the bathroom.  “Being able to kiss the one you love for an extended period of time seems like a really romantic notion,” said chat-show host Ricki, “but this kiss took on a life of its own… It went from romantic to exhausting and eventually to ‘how much longer until we break the record?’ But, when all was said and done, Louisa and Rich were still willing to give each other a congratulatory kiss on a job well done.”  Source: Guinness Book of World Records
