School Band Fundraising Ideas

Music is an important part of high school life for many students.  But as funding for music programs decrease, the need for fundraisers increases.  School bands need  money for uniforms, trips to competitions and away games, instruments and even song rights and a good fundraising event can make the all the difference.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do.  In Conyers, GA, a car show fundraiser was held to benefit the band program at Heritage High School.  In Liberty, TX, The Liberty Band Booster Club threw a fundraiser called “I Wanna Direct the Band” offering an individual to direct the LHS band during their spring concert.  Interested “directors” made a donation by purchasing a ticket and the winner was drawn at random.  Fundraisers by other bands include dances, dinners, auctions, concerts, candy sales, parents’ night out, and recycling.
