Church School Fundraising Ideas

Church schools provide valuable religious education for the youth of the congregation. Many church schools also hold fundraising events to raise money for supplies, field trips, improvements to the school or to raise funds for another worthy cause in the community. Fundraising in a tough economy can be hard.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In Jersey City, New Jersey, The Covenant & Peace Worship Center held a fashion show fundraiser, which is an afternoon of inspiration featuring the women of the bible defining the queen in you, with the proceeds of the fundraiser going to the church’s Sunday school program. St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School in West Allis, WI, raises funds in a variety of ways: market day, scrip, ink cartridge recycling, and stamps for missions. Fundraisers by other church schools include product sales, mile of dimes, bake sales, dinners, rummage sales, product sales, car washes, car/bike shows, plays, thons, and auctions.

Perhaps one of these successful and creative ideas can be adapted for your church school fundraiser.

Children’s Cookbook – This is a humorous fundraiser that everyone will love. Involve the whole school in writing a book of the children's favorite recipes. Ask each child in the school to tell you: 1) What they are going to cook; 2) What ingredients they will need; 3) How do they make their recipe; 4) How do they cook their recipe; 5) Draw a picture of what they want to cook. Write the children's responses down exactly as they tell them to you. Read more…
