Dance Team Fundraising Ideas

Everybody loves to dance, well almost everybody. Dance Teams can be found at schools, in communities, in the city or in the country. There are hip hop dance teams, country line dancing teams, ballroom dance teams… there are teams of children and teams of senior citizens. One thing they all have in common is they all need funds to operate. Fundraising for your dance team could be for costumes, for travel expenses or maybe your dance team wants to raise funds for another good cause like a local charity. You’ve got the talent, now put it to good fundraising use!

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In Waltham, MA, a local hip hop dance team had the chance to compete at an international competition at Disney World in Florida. Team members held a fundraiser at a local restaurant, which included an auction and a 50/50 raffle. In Newport Harbor, CA, the NHHS Dance Team held a car wash fundraiser, and with lots of hard work (and of course lots of fun) the Dance Team raised over $2800. Fundraisers by other dance teams include dance-offs, pep rallies, auctions, and dance marathons.

Bike Scavenger Hunt – This is great exercise and a great fundraiser both. Individuals and teams (consisting of 3 to 5 riders) will be given a list of at least 35 sites/things around town to be photographed. Points will be assigned to each photo. Each participant must furnish their own digital camera with picture review capability (Bring extra batteries!). The hunt should last three or four hours. Read more…

Movie Night – Many organizations rent a movie and hold movie night fundraising events. This works especially well if you have a large room and projection/large screen TV. Make money by charging a single price for the movie and refreshments; provide the movie free but sell refreshments; or charge nothing and just ask for donations. Make sure you select a movie that will be of special interest to your group. Read more…

Flamingo Flocking – All you need for this fundraiser is 10 pink plastic flamingos (lawn decorations). Pick 10 yards in your community to be the lucky recipients. Attach cards to the flamingoes’ necks with a phone number along with all the pertinent information regarding your group. State that for a $10 donation, the flamingos will be removed but for $15 they will be moved to the lawn of their choice. Read more…
