High School Fundraising Ideas

Every High School across this great nation has at least one thing in common: Fundraising. High schools throw  fundraiser to pay for improvements to their school or athletic facilities, for travel expenses to away games and state competitions. Sometimes they raise funds for a fellow student who is sick or gravely injured. Sometimes they do a fundraiser for a local or national charitable organization. Fundraising is challenging, but it’s rewarding and teach the students to give back to their community.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In Pinconning, MI, students organized a student vs. teacher basketball game, half-court shoot-out, 50/50 raffle, bake sale and T-shirt sale fundraiser for a classmate who was battling brain cancer. In Tampa, FL, the rivalry between two high schools resulted in a Drive One 4 UR School fundraiser with both schools trying to get more participants than the other. Fundraisers by other High School groups include golf outings, dinner dances, mile of dimes, musicals, auctions, fashion shows, thons, raffles, and product sales.

No Talent Contest – Organize a talent contest fundraiser where the contestants purposefully perform badly. Suggestions: singing out of tune for an entire song, silly and failing magic tricks, dance routine out of sync, etc. Place signs at the entry point that state the entry fee is $1, exit fee is $5. Read more…

Teacher Torture – For this fundraiser, the school principal picks as many teachers as he/she feels will willingly participate – no party poopers! The principal also has to play (to be fair of course). The principal then selects an “appropriate” activity that each teacher has to do such as: kiss a pig, color hair a wild color, dress outrageously, roller skate, etc. Be creative! Have fun! Read more…
