Hospice Fundraising

Hospices take on the hard and often heart-breaking task of caring for us in our final days. When the time comes we may need round the clock care to keep us comfortable and pain free and not all of us will have family that is able to provide this kind of constant care. Many hospices are run as non-profits and therefore rely on fundraising events for extras like improvements to the facility or special events for the patients like a day for manicures and hair-styling. Fundraising is always challenging.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In Tennessee, Hospice of Cumberland County invites the public to celebrate the life of a loved one at the Annual Hospice Benefit Celebration of Life Butterfly Release fundraiser. In Nova Scotia, the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society’s ‘You’ll Die Laughing’ fundraiser includes a lot of improv and audience interaction. Fundraisers by other Hospice groups include angel trees, concerts, auctions, bowling tournaments, raffles, dinners, engraved bricks, golf tournaments, and product sales.

Don’t Come Event - A don't come fundraising event is a clever way of asking for donations in a novel and humorous manner. First things first! This event will never actually happen -- other than on paper. You send invitations to supporters - and potential supporters - for a spectacular event with scrumptious food, exciting entertainment, and a glamorous guest of honor. Read more…

Poinsettia Sale - This is the fifth year we will be selling poinsettia plants at San Antonio's largest and most frequented mall. The fundraising sale extends from the day after Thanksgiving until few days before Christmas. Hospice San Antonio volunteers, board members, community volunteers and corporate volunteer groups staff the poinsettia sale booth during mall hours in three or four-hour shifts. Read more…
