PTA Fundraising Ideas

Parent Teacher Associations, or PTA’s, are affiliated with the National PTA, and can be an important asset and usually an active fundraising group at any school. PTA’s may have a fundraiser for new school equipment, books and curriculum, field trips and facility improvements. If there’s a cause that affects the students, you can bet the PTA is going to be there to help out.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In California, the Del Mar Heights PTA hosted the “Living in Paradise” Home Tour and Sunset Cocktail Party fundraiser featuring six exquisite homes designed by prominent local architects. In Florida, the Orange Beach Elementary School PTA hosted a casino night fundraiser. Fundraisers by other PTAs include product sales, talent shows, cowpie bingo, game nights, bake sales, dinners, raffles, concerts, restaurant nights, yard sales, and thons.

Tickets for Treats – I am a teacher and am planning on doing this fundraiser with my students to raise money for a project. I will make several dozen coupons that I plan on selling for $1.00 each. The coupons will reflect things my students would enjoy, such as receiving homemade goodies, stickers, throwing me into the school’s pool, pulling something out of my goodie jar, etc. Read more…

Food Trucks – Public schools in California, hit by budget cuts, drops in donations and new fundraising guidelines, are capitalizing on the culinary craze. Mobile eateries park at campuses, dispensing meals to the hungry and money to cash-strapped facilities.
