Prom Fundraising Ideas

Prom is one of those high school milestones that most people remember for a lifetime. Most school charge for tickets to prom to help pay for the venue, the catering, etc. but many schools also hold a fundraiser to help offset these costs and keep prom tickets at a reasonable price. Lots of student groups hold a fundraiser to pay for a Post-Prom event. Fundraising can be challenging, but it can also be fun.

One of the biggest decisions is often deciding what type of fundraiser to do. In Seton, NY, Seton Catholic Central’s Post Prom Committee hosted a three-tiered fundraiser at the local AutoZone, with a carwash and bottle drive. In Nova Scotia, Members of West Kings Teens Against Drinking and Driving (TADD) held a turkey dinner fundraiser to allow students to organize a fun and memorable drug and alcohol-free event to follow their prom. Fundraisers by other Prom Committees include dress boutiques, raffles, dinner dances, auctions, fashion shows, and product sales.

Student/Faculty Basketball Game - Every year we host a student/faculty fundraising basketball game. Students sign up to play, and the coordinators (also students) decide fair teams based on athletic ability. The students play each other in 10-15 minute games in a tournament. The team that wins the tournament plays a team made up of teachers from the high school. Read more…

Food Fight - In Lawrence, New Jersey, it was the ultimate food fight fundraiser, a chocolate lover’s dream and a neat-freak’s nightmare. But for the 670 people who participated, it meant much more. The Lawrenceville School hosted the potentially record-breaking chocolate custard pie fight at a campus field. Read more…
