Lottery Raffle Fundraiser

We found this idea to be a nice alternative to a traditional ‘money tree’ raffle: A lottery raffle! We use this in conjunction with one of our lunch socials or other community events to further raise money for our organization.  We use a straw wreath decorated with ribbon that coordinates with whatever holiday or season it happens to be. We ask the members of the fundraising committee (usually about 20 people) to donate two $1.00 instant scratch-off style lottery tickets. We use removable sticky tack (sold to hold up posters and not damage walls) to attach the tickets to the wreath. We sell raffle tickets for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. It’s amazing how much people are willing to spend with the hopes of winning big. I believe that last time the winner won $45 and we made nearly $200.  Just be careful to not mar or deface the tickets- some states are very strict about tickets that appear to have been altered in any way. Source: Stephanie Z, Youngstown, Ohio

We have included a number of do-it-yourself fundraising ideas in this section that offer a break from traditional product sales.  They were developed by groups just like yours in an attempt have a little fun with their fundraiser. Some of them are tried and true while others show a lot of creativity … and even wackiness in some cases.  All of them are obviously not appropriate for every group, but sometimes, with only a little modification, your might find some fund raising ideas that are perfect for your group. If you have an idea for a do-it-yourself fund raiser you are willing to share with others, please send it to us via email. Include anything and everything you would want to know if you were hearing the idea for the first time.
