Skinny Dip Fundraiser
Okay, this idea is clearly not appropriate for most groups … and probably isn’t legal in many places. However, in Druridge Bay, North Cumberland, United Kingdom, hundreds of naked fundraisers braved the cold of about 42 degrees in a charity bid to set a new world record for the biggest ever skinny dip. The cheeky event, with people from all over the UK gathering to take part, was organized to try to break the world record and raise money for mental health charity, Mind. It wasn’t easy to count nude people scampering over the sand and into the waves and back, but organizers reckon there were well over 150. But unfortunately the organizers said they think the numbers fell short of breaking the record in The North East Skinny Dip. One organizer said loads of us ran naked into the sea to raise money for Mind and to celebrate ourselves and our bodies.
She said that she did a skinny dip last year where they broke the world record, but she doesn’t think there was enough to do it this time but there was enough of them for it to be a lot of fun. Previously, a skinny dip was held at Rhossili beach in Wales, where more than 400 people plunged naked into the sea and raised money for cancer and the National Trust. Note: They didn’t break the record but a good, if chilly, time was had by all. None of the articles we read explained exactly how they raised funds but it looks like there was an entrance fee and donations.
