Jackson, TN - Cardboard boat
designers came together to test their skills and raise
money for a good cause. The Dream Center’s cardboard
boat regatta took place at the Lift Center pool in
downtown Jackson. Boaters competed for more than 15
trophies including fastest boat, most creative and most
people in a boat. Organizers say even though it is a
fundraiser, it’s also a great way to come together as a
community. |

Powell River, BC - Stylists at
Afterglow Hair Lounge have set a specific day aside in
order to give back to their community with a fundraiser.
During regular business hours on Wednesday, four
stylists will be to offer haircuts at a charity
Cut-a-Thon for a minimum $25 donation. All proceeds from
the event will be donated to Grace House. |
Baton Rouge, LA - Baton Rouge
Community College and the BRCC Foundation are gearing up
for a gala fundraising event to benefit students. The
event titled "Chancellor's Evening with Ailey II" is set
for November 5th at the Magnolia Performing Arts
Pavilion. Guests can enjoy an artistic performance from
the Ailey II dance company. Proceeds from the event will
provide financial assistance for students. |

Tuscaloosa, AL - On Monday,
Graniterock‘s A.R.Wilson Quarry held its 10th annual Rock
and Run 5K run/walk fundraising event, raising $20,000 for
Aromas School and offering the community an up close look at
mining. Graniterock CEO Tom Squeri and Quarry Manager Peter
Lemon said they were happy to continue with the fundraising
efforts for the school and community. |
Peterborough, NH - People dressed in
pink gathered in Depot Square on Sunday for a Making Strides
Against Breast Cancer walk. The fundraising event brought in
more than $29,000 in donations toward a $45,000 goal. About
100 people, most of them cancer survivors, participated in
the fundraising event. |

Baltimore, MD - BARCS’ largest
fundraising event of the year is happening this Saturday.
BARCStoberfest helps the animal rescue organization care for
the more than 12,000 homeless animals they take in each
year. The event will be held in Patterson Park starting at
7:30 a.m on October 28. There's scavenger hunts, coloring
activities, obstacle courses, pet costume contests, and of
course, one of the largest parts of the event is the Ready,
Set, Sniff 5k run. |
Mankato, MN - Sunday, three
Franklin Elementary students put on a fundraiser to help
in the relief efforts of the recent hurricanes,
earthquakes, and wildfires. Baked goods and drinks were
sold, as 100% of the money gathered went toward the Red
Cross. The event even enticed the chairman of the local
Red Cross to attend and allow these girls to paint the
iconic red symbol on his cheek. Everybody had a chance
to sign a poster showcasing they are a part of the
relief effort. The girls even got creative, creating a
game called "pin the eye on the hurricane." |

Somerville, MA - Kids of all ages
are invited to a Halloween Carnival on Saturday for an
evening of fundraising, ghoulish games, prizes,
face-painting, raffles, music and loads of fun! The
Somerville High School gymnasium will be transformed into a
Halloween hall of fun activities. $5 admission and tickets
will be sold for games. Proceeds will benefit the Somerville
High School SkillsUSA program. |
Killeen, TX - Killeen City
Council member and civic leader Juan Rivera said 83
percent of Puerto Rico is still without power and water
and residents have to walk a distance comparable to
walking from Killeen to Belton to obtain buckets of
water. Rivera, members of the Hispanic-American Chamber
of Commerce Central Texas, and other volunteers will
present a fundraising event for Puerto Rico’s hurricane
victims and Mexico’s earthquake victims called Together
for a Cause on Saturday at the Killeen Special Event
Center. More than 20 entertainers are lined up for the
event which will also include a car show, food, alcohol
and other beverages. |

Linton, IN - A fun-filled evening is
planned at the Linton National Guard Armory on Saturday that
will benefit Turning Point Education Center, a part of the
Open Arms Family and Educational Services. A variety of
homemade chili soups will be available for purchase along
with a silent auction. Entertainment will be provided by
Cochren & Co., a contemporary Christian band. Proceeds from
the event will be used directly for Turning Point Education
Center (TPEC) students. “It (the fundraiser) is to pay for
scholarships for students who are ready to take the HSE
(High School Equivalency) exam and can’t afford it,” Adult
Education Coordinator Michelle Ellis said. “This is our
first fundraiser and we hope people will come out and
support us.” |
Palm Beach, FL - Susan G. Komen, the
world’s largest nonprofit in the fight against breast
cancer, will hold its major fundraising event in January
aboard a cruise ship docked at the Port of Palm Beach, a
first for the organization. In another first, Komen’s
founder, Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker, said 75 percent of the
proceeds from Komen’s Perfect Pink Party Gala & Castaway
Cruise will remain in South Florida, to be directed to
patients with breast cancer health needs. The move will
provide immediate assistance to people affected by the
hurricanes who are relocating to Florida to continue
treatment, Brinker said. |

Grand Rapids, MI - Friends and
family are coming together on Tuesday to help benefit a
voice of the community after he suffered a stroke. Dave
Jaconette, known for his radio show 'Sound Off! West
Michigan,' is on the road to recovery but has a long
road ahead. According to a family member, Jaconette is
still attending therapy but his health insurance has
stopped covering the cost. From 5-8 p.m. there will be a
fundraising event at VanderMill Ciders in Grand Rapids
to help give back. 20 percent of the food and drink
sales will help cover those costs, and there will be a
silent auction to help raise funds as well. |
Newburyport, MA - The fifth annual
Music for Change fundraiser – one of the biggest events that
helps Pennies for Poverty replenish its budget - takes the
microphone Nov. 4. The music fundraiser at the Elks Lodge on
Low Street begins at 6:30 p.m. Although some segments of the
Greater Newburyport community are prospering, event
organizers say the need for a little extra help is
increasing among many low-income families. |

Grand Junction, CO - The annual
Empty Bowls fundraiser had crowds wrapped around the
soup kitchen on 1st Street since 8 a.m. Saturday
morning. For 25 dollars, people could by soup served in
bowls made by local potters. Proceeds go toward the
Grand Valley Catholic Outreach soup kitchen, which
serves more than 250 people a day, six days a week.
Visitors could choose from over a thousand different
bowls. Volunteers, staff, and even police officers
helped serve lunch. |
Portsmouth, VA - The Portsmouth
Partnership is teaming up with eight local businesses to
promote economic growth, leadership and education in
Portsmouth through a fundraiser, “Partake ‘N Portsmouth’s
Bites, Micro-Brews & Dance Moves,” that will feature
Portsmouth food, beverage and musical entertainment.
Expected dishes at this time include fork sliders, fish
tacos, flatbread pizzas, mac and cheese, soup, oysters,
veggie dishes and more, said Portsmouth Partnership
Executive Director Michelle Wren. “We were trying to pick
restaurants we could highlight, and we also wanted some good
food.” |

Mountlake Terrace, WA - Over $40,000
in donations were raised for Clothes for Kids during the
Transforming Lives fundraiser breakfast on Thursday morning.
Clothes for Kids is a nonprofit organization that provides
clothing and coats for free to school-age children in need
in Snohomish County. Executive Director Joy Ingram said the
fundraiser was a success. |
Augusta, GA - The 2017 IGIVE
fundraising campaign for Augusta University is finishing
up with a BBQ and beer event provided by Fat Man's Cafe.
The event will have live entertainment, a kids zone,
fireworks at dusk and an announcement of this year's
fundraising total. IGIVE is the annual campaign for
giving to Augusta University and Augusta University
Health. Gifts are directed to benefit any of the
university’s colleges and cyber initiatives, the health
system, university athletics, the Children’s Hospital of
Georgia or other specific programs. |

Lewisburg, WV - Everyone is
invited to attend a fun-filled German-themed evening
when Communities in Schools of Greenbrier County (CISGC)
kicks off its third annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser at the
Valley View Barn. Organizers promise plenty of
German-inspired food catered by The Greenbrier Sporting
Club, along with the sides from Food & Friends and
plenty of beverages and desserts. As befits the event’s
“almost Halloween” date, there will be a best-dressed
costume contest with a tasty treat-filled basket as the
prize. Lively music will be provided by John Covey Cole. |
Fort Plain, NY - As work
progresses on the multi-pronged construction project at
The Fort Plain Free Library, library officials and staff
are looking forward to the late-fall or early-winter
unveiling of a new handicapped-accessible main entrance.
The new entryway presents a fundraising opportunity as
it will consist of 340 paving stones. For contributions
of $300, the 12-inch by 12-inch pavers can be
personalized - that is, engraved with memoriams,
phrases, quotes, or lasting tributes to area businesses,
organizations, or individuals. |

Pueblo, CO - The cocktail
dresses, high heels, black ties and suit jackets
typically seen at charity fundraising events at Pueblo's
Historic Union Depot were replaced by blue jeans,
leather boots and wide-brimmed cowboy hats on Sunday, as
more than 200 people gathered for the fifth annual
Goodnight Barn Chuck Wagon Dinner and Fandango. Hosted
annually by the Goodnight Barn Preservation Committee,
the dinner and silent auction helps raise money for the
ongoing Goodnight Barn preservation, which is currently
working to restore the historic barn on Colorado 96
built by cattle rancher Charles Goodnight in 1870. |
Fort Rucker, AL - L3 Army Fleet
Support (L3 AFS) announced that its Fort Rucker-based
maintenance employees, along with the International
Association of Machinists (IAM) Local Lodge 2003,
concluded their 2017 Relay For Life campaign, raising a
total of $124,485.38. This exceeds last year’s total by
26 percent and once again brands AFS/IAM as the “Top
Fundraising Team” for Southeast Alabama. Although the
majority of donations came from payroll deductions, a
variety of employee-driven fundraisers were conducted to
supplement the campaign. |

Bozeman, MT - Levi Johnson wears
his Bozeman Boxing Academy shirt to practice each day as
a reminder of why he came out of retirement for a
fundraising event. “These kids have been a huge source
of inspiration for me,” the head coach said. His pupils
have inspired him to step back into the ring Saturday
evening for a charity bout. The Bridger Mountain Beat
Down at the Gallatin Valley Fairgrounds will raise money
to help send his students to Junior Olympic tournaments
across the country. He and fellow coach Manny Lopez see
this fundraising event as an opportunity to pave the way
for their boxers to further careers. |

is holding a fundraising event selling Boba Tea in front
of Union from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Do not miss

Boba tea is a Taiwanese iced tea that has a layer of
chewy tapioca balls that sit on the bottom. All milk,

award scholarships to outstanding members to participate
in the annual Ascend National Convention in August 2018. |

Nitro, WV - Nitro Mayor Dave
Casebolt announced the launch of the Greater Nitro Youth
Foundation, and its biggest fundraiser. Most of the
schools in Nitro and Cross Lanes, along with youth
baseball, midget league football, scouting programs and
other youth programs in the areas, are part of the
initiative. Officials also announced the foundation’s
largest fundraiser will be a giveaway event, the
BoomTown Bash. Nearly 100 prizes will be given away
throughout the day at the Bash - with a drawing every
five minutes. Prizes include cars, a boat, a motorcycle,
guns, vacation packages and cash. The final prize
drawing of the day will be for a 2018 BMW X6 Sports
Activity Coupe or $50,000 cash. There will also be a
50/50 raffle with an estimated $100,000 jackpot. |
Old Saybrook, CT - Luke Duffy
was too young to remember much of the community support
after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
at 18 months old, but knew the town helped his family
through a tough time. “I want to pull that community
back in,” he said, “because I know they’ve done it once,
and I know they’ll do it again.” The high school junior
and cancer survivor has coordinated a trio of
fundraising events under the name of “Lose Your Locks
with Luke.” “I’m just raising funds and awareness for
Camp Rising Sun and pediatric cancer, that’s my main
goal,” Duffy said while at Old Saybrook High School,
taking a break from his classes to elaborate on the
fundraiser. |

Tallapoosa, AL - Over the course of
a four-hour period Saturday morning, Tallapoosa Ford
welcomed the public to the dealership for their annual Drive
4Ur School fundraising event. A line of brand new Ford
vehicles, including a Focus, a Taurus, an F-250 and both
convertible and non-convertible Mustangs were arranged on
one side of the lot, waiting for another round of test
driving. Inside, a group of Benjamin Russell cheerleaders
were carrying clipboards, helping people get registered to
test-drive one of the vehicles and have their drive count
towards the overall goal of $6,000. |
Twin Falls, ID - Hundreds of
community members gathered on a chilly Saturday morning
for the Twin Falls Walk for Wishes fundraising event.
"It is so gratifying to be able to help them in any way
shape or form," said Robin Stanhope, the top individual
fundraiser for this year’s event. Walk for Wishes is a
fundraising event for Make a Wish Idaho. Groups
fundraised by collecting donations, they then gathered
to walk the canyon rim trial together. Stanhope said
it's all about helping improve the lives of the children
suffering with life threatening and debilitating
illnesses. |

Ipswich, UK - Radio presenter
Wayne Bavin is facing a life behind bars for crimes
against comedy - unless he can raise £999 for a
children’s charity. The entertainer has agreed to take
part in a ‘Jail and Bail’ fundraising event for East
Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). The unlikely duo of
the radio host and Colchester businessman James Fisher,
an industrial sales director at Fläkt Woods, will be
detained by officers in the mock police crackdown on
Suffolk and Essex ‘bigwigs’. They are due to be found
guilty by Judge David Goodin at Ipswich Crown Court and
punished with an order of each raising £999 for EACH. |
Arcata, CA - Northcoast
Children’s Services’ “Pastels on the Plaza” has been
filling Arcata’s city center with colorfully original
artwork on the first Saturday of October for the past
three decades. This creative fundraiser has also been
helping to support the local nonprofit organization,
which serves low-income pregnant women and families with
children from birth through kindergarten age. Here’s how
Pastels works: Businesses, organizations, schools and
other groups “buy” a square of cement on the Arcata
Plaza for $125 or $225 and artists - both experienced
and new — sign up to participate. Artists are matched
with a sponsor and, on the morning of the event, they go
to work creating a temporary sidewalk gallery of art for
all to see. |

Sherman, TX - Attendees were
treated to dining and entertainment at the annual Bras
for a Cause fundraising event Saturday evening at North
Texas Regional Airport - Perrin Field. As the largest
Women Rock fundraiser, the event included both live and
silent auctions. Volunteer Women Rock board member and
breast cancer survivor Michelle Honeycutt said even
small donations make a big difference for the
organization. |
